Tips to Narrowing Your Chances of Winning
Gambling is never a sure endeavor. Betting at the races, being a form of gambling, does not assure that you'll win a wager everytime. All games of luck are built this way. However, this does not mean that you cannot use other systems to enhance your chances for the win.
You may not end up collecting a payout everytime, but you can always narrow down your chances of putting your money on a winning horse. This is an art that you have to master if you're going to be a regular spectator and punter at the racetracks.
First off, you have to make it a habit of studying a race track program. It's your go-to encyclopedia of the information you need to know about each and every horse on the race. Understand the figures. How fast does the horse you fancy run? What is his win-loss record? Aside from the program, you can also go online or get newspapers and scour for data or news that gives you clues regarding the ability of the horse and its chances of winning.
In looking for a potential winner, make consistency count a lot. The horse you choose should have won either first, second or third quite a number of times in the previous races it has participated in. Obviously, the more wins a horse has (especially first-place victories), the greater chances it will have of winning again.
However, don't just look at the winning record but the number of runners and the distance these wins have taken place. A consistent winner must have won in races with at least 14 contenders and is run for an estimated three miles. This will tell you if a horse has the stamina to race regular distances and against more numerous horses of different calibers.
Finally, always make sure that the horse has no injuries when it will run. And while you're at it, figure in the workout that the horse has undergone for the past month so you can assess its form. Oh, and don't for get to check the record of the jockey on the mount. A good one will almost always steer the horse past others for the victory.
