Exactas, trifectas, superfectas and other so-called exotic wagers are appealing to most bettors because of the possibility of higher payouts. Unfortunately, most who do decide to bet on exactas, trifectas and the like find that even if they've won in a few races, they still end up with less money than they originally started with.
This happens when a punter fails to win more of his chosen wagers. If you find yourself in this predicament, you'll need to narrow down on your choices or else risk losing even more cash. How do you do that?
First off, you'll have to choose a key horse. This is easier said than done, but if you're serious about making money from your exotic bets, then you have to look back at your racing guide. Make sure that the horse you choose as the foundation of your exotic wagers tops or at least places in the top three in speed, class and odds in its previous races. This makes it a reliable horse in which to anchor your bets on.
To make your bets pay more, you don't have to bet on the equine that places first on these three categories most of the time. Everyone will most likely be betting on the same horse and that would significantly lower the amount of your payout should you win. A reliable horse may still be found if you use the horse that places second or third in any of these categories. They're not as popular but can still be relied on to deliver their best. Because they're not the usual crowd favorite, you'll stand a chance of cashing in big when your exotic bet hits the jackpot.
Exactas, trifectas and superfectas are risky bets to take but for the chances of higher payouts make them too tempting to resist. The key here is to really find that one horse who will win exactly as you think it would. Sure, it takes more analyzing and little more in-depth handicapping, but the investment in time is going to be worth it.
